BMW International Open: Golf Course
The BMW International Open course, Munich Eichenried Golf Complex, is one of the few German golf courses with a high national profile.
The 27-hole, Par 73 or 74 championship golf course at Munich Eichenried Golf Complex, 20 km northeast of Munich offers three nine-hole loops, all ending conveniently at the clubhouse and playable in different combinations. It also boasts a course rating of 128 – 134.
The golf course has existed in this form since June 2002. The course extension was designed by Kurt Roßknecht, who had already laid out the old championship course. This had been the principal BMW International Open golf course since the inaugural tournament was played in 1989.
The terrain of the golf course covers a total of 1 350 000 m2. Its fairways are all long and flat, boasting both old and mature trees. A large number of water hazards – brooks, as well as ponds, edged with dry stonewall to make the approach to the course’s 27 greens more difficult.
Over the years, a number of new bunkers have been added, while the course has been adapted continually to the latest standards. This includes installing a state-of-the-art irrigation system, undulated greens and so on.
All in all, the BMW International Open golf course at Munich Eichenried Golf Complex is always in outstanding condition and calls for both technical and tactical versatility – even from the world’s best golfers.
